Last seen as Selene back in 2012, Kate Beckinsale is back in the fifth installment of the Underworld series, entitled Underworld: Blood Wars. This is great news, as originally the film was planned as a reboot with Kate Beckinsale not returning. Happy to see they decided to continue with Kate and the series.
Vampires, Werewolves, Kate Beckinsale back in butt kicking form, pounding music, plenty of action . . . What’s not to like?
The next installment in the blockbuster franchise follows Vampire death dealer, Selene (Kate Beckinsale) as she fends off brutal attacks from both the Lycan clan and the Vampire faction that betrayed her. With her only allies, David (Theo James) and his father Thomas (Charles Dance), she must stop the eternal war between Lycans and Vampires, even if it means she has to make the ultimate sacrifice.
To note, it appears Scott Speedman, who played Michael Corvin (Selene’s lover) in the first two films is not reprising his role. It’s unfortunate as the two worked well together, however, a younger Trent Garrett is replacing him and we can only wait and see how he works out.
