Years ago, the excellent horror film, JAWS, showed me exactly why I don’t want to swim in the ocean. Last year, The Shallows reminded me why I don’t want to go surfing. Now, as seen in this second trailer, 47 Meters Down will show me why I will never go in a shark cage.
The film stars Mandy Moore (A Walk to Remember) and Claire Holt (The Originals) and they join director Johannes Roberts (The Other Side of the Door) in the survival horror film about two sisters in Mexico who decide to go on a shark dive. Unfortunately, things go awry when the cable connected to their cage breaks and sends them plummeting . . . 47 meters down. Surrounded by sharks and running out of air, the girls need to find a way to the surface.
The original distributor, Dimension Films, had initially set a North American DVD and VOD release back in August 2016, however, the rights were sold to Entertainment Studios and decided to release the film theatrically in the U.S. in June 2017.
The official synopsis is:
Two sisters (Mandy Moore and Claire Holt), vacationing in Mexico become trapped in a shark cage on the ocean floor. As their oxygen starts to run out and with great white sharks circling them, the sisters must find a way to get to the surface alive.
Yep, just stay out of the water people.
47 Meters Down hits theaters June 16, 2017. You can check out the new trailer below.
