The world’s favorite Amazon Warrior has just finished the weekend with $747 million worldwide.  With that number, Wonder Woman has officially passed the worldwide gross of Suicide Squad ($745).  Do I hear applause?

Wonder Woman is already the highest-grossing installment of the DC Extended Universe domestically and since passing Suicide Squad, the film is now second worldwide behind Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice at $873 million.  In regards to worldwide film totals for 2017, Wonder Woman currently sits in fourth place for the highest grossing movie.  Ahead of Wonder Woman are Beauty and the Beast ($1.261 billion), The Fate of the Furious ($1.239 billion) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 ($857.7 million).

The number of $873 million for the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is going to be tough to beat, but Wonder Woman has already beaten the odds so all bets are off.  The film has already topped the record books by becoming the top-grossing live-action film directed by a woman, Patty Jenkins, as well as earned the best American debut for a movie directed by a woman at $103.1 million.  So let’s see what happens.

Wonder Woman has obviously proven to be a huge success and, of course, a sequel is in the works.  Patty Jenkins has signed on for writing the sequel along with Geoff Johns, but there has been no official word yet with her signing on as director.  Hopefully, the people at DC and Jenkins will make this happen.  Until then, we can next catch Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman in the Justice League film coming this November.
