Some interesting details came out during the San Diego Comic-Con in regards to Marvel’s upcoming female led superhero film, Captain Marvel.
Captain Marvel is going grunge! Well, maybe not, but Marvel’s head, Kevin Feige announced that their first female-led Marvel film, which stars Brie Larson and directed by the duo of Anna Boden and Rayn Fleck, will take place in the 1990’s. That is not all folks, it was also announced that Samuel L. Jackson will be returning as Nick Fury and with two eyes (as it takes place in the past).
But wait, there’s more! Feige announced that the film’s villains will be . . . the Skrulls! For those unfamiliar with the Skrulls, they are a race of shapeshifters that have proven to be quite a threat by nearly taking over the earth, in Marvel’s “Secret Invasion” series. This is a big enemy to release upon a hero in their first film. Captain Marvel is powerful, but the Skrulls are many. It will be interesting to see how this is handled and if it is something that leads into one of the two upcoming Avenger films.
